What Design is to Me

Design:
A plan or drawing produced to show the look and function or workings of a building, garment,

or other object before it is built or made.

Above is the definition of design but to me its a little different. Design is a lifestyle... As an artist

the first thing I think about is "What am I going to wear today?" or "What makeup look will I try?"

Or even "How am I going to style my hair differently?" Design applies in many aspects of my

life and I enjoy it, it keeps it creative and fun. At a young age I realized art would be a big part

of my life. I've been drawing literally my entire life, I thought what I was drawing was average

until someone told me differently. My family and friends noticed a talent in me that I didn't see.

From there on I took art a bit more seriously and and would always strive to improve.

My career goal is to become an established Interior Designer and hopefully have my own show

on HGTV. With design as an aspiring Interior Designer I want to bring a room to life. That's my

goal, make something from nothing, beauty from ashes. I realized that I wanted to be an interior

designer not too long ago. I was going to

pursue a music degree until I realized the only guaranteed job I'd get with a bachelors in music

would be a teaching job & that wasn't too promising for me. So my only next option would be to

pursue my other talent which is art! I could tell that this was something I could do and would love

doing for a long time. I can walk in a room and see is strong and weak points, what it could be,

what it needs and doesn't need.

Within a year I hope to start working more with my art and drawing ability. I also would like to

start pursuing painting, something I've never done but have always wanted to. Who knows

maybe I'll have an interior collection together or clothing line. I would mainly like to develop a

larger portfolio show casing my art ability and my development throughout my college career. I

hope to develop dramatically studying in the VSU art program. I'm excited to see where this

takes me and how it will benefit me in my future.

Art is the only way to run away without leaving home.
